What distinguishes a standard poster from a true fine art print is the commitment to longevity and detail. At PrintStudio, we utilize professional Giclée printing processes and premium acid-free papers to create museum-grade reproductions that resist fading for decades. If you are looking to curate a themed space, our fine art works pair beautifully with our unique wall art to create a balanced, organic aesthetic. Beyond the paper itself, the craftsmanship behind every image ensures that you are receiving a piece of art that maintains its value and beauty. Browse our entire art collection to discover a diverse range of styles, from classic oil painting reproductions to contemporary digital masterpieces, all available in multiple sizes and custom framing options.
A fine art print is defined by its quality and longevity. Unlike mass-produced posters, fine art prints are made using archival-quality inks (pigment-based) and acid-free, 100% cotton or alpha-cellulose paper. This ensures the image won’t yellow or fade over time.
Giclée (pronounced “zhee-clay”) is a high-end inkjet printing process. It uses a minimum of 10 to 12 fade-resistant, pigment-based inks to produce incredibly smooth color transitions and deep blacks, resulting in a reproduction that is nearly indistinguishable from the original artwork.
While value depends on the artist and the edition (limited vs. open), the physical value of a fine art print remains high because the materials do not degrade. They are considered an investment in home decor that will look as good in 50 years as it does today.
Matte finishes are ideal for a classic, non-reflective look, perfect for rooms with lots of windows. Luster (or semi-gloss) finishes provide a slight sheen that can make colors appear more saturated and “pop” more, which is often preferred for high-contrast photography.
To maintain archival integrity, use acid-free mounting boards and UV-protective glass or acrylic. It is also recommended to use a “mat” (the border around the art) to ensure the print does not touch the glass directly, which prevents moisture trapped in the frame from damaging the surface.
When printed with pigment-based inks on archival paper and kept out of direct, harsh sunlight, fine art prints can last anywhere from 100 to 200 years without significant fading or color shifting.
Yes, PrintStudio offers a variety of standard and custom sizing options to fit your specific wall space. Because the digital files used for fine art printing are high-resolution, we can scale the artwork to large formats while maintaining incredible sharpness and detail.
